Mechanical Engineer & Maker — Oisterwijk
Mechanical engineer with over 15 years of experience in product development, mechanical design and production environments. Combining professional engineering expertise with a broad range of hands-on technical skills — from CAD and CNC to electronics, AI integration and home automation.
What I do
Over 15 years of experience in mechanical design, product development and process engineering across production, marine and industrial sectors. Proficient in SolidWorks, FreeCAD, AutoCAD and Inventor, with hands-on experience in welding technology (IWT certified), PDM systems and ISO 3834-2 quality standards. Currently working as mechanical engineer at Tarkett, supporting R&D, production and maintenance in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Designing and building is a passion that extends well beyond the workplace. With a personal CNC router, FDM printer and resin printer, most designs go from CAD directly to production at home. Electronics are part of the workflow too — Arduino and ESP32 projects are a regular pursuit, from custom sensors to full integrated builds. Online known as MisterMaker.
Actively integrating AI into daily workflows — from vibe coding and AI-assisted development to advanced Home Assistant automations. Experienced in building smart home integrations, custom dashboards and automating complex scenarios using Home Assistant in combination with AI tooling. Comfortable working at the intersection of hardware, software and intelligent systems.
Software
Throughout a career spanning multiple industries — from high-precision manufacturing and marine engineering to consumer products — a broad range of CAD platforms has been applied in professional contexts. SolidWorks is the primary and preferred professional tool, with extensive PDM and FEM experience. FreeCAD is used as a supplementary platform, primarily for its built-in CAM and FEM capabilities in specific workflows — not as a professional replacement for SolidWorks.
For visualization and organic design, Blender 3D is used extensively — including scripted rendering workflows and 3D-printed mould design. Beyond CAD, Home Assistant is used to build and maintain advanced smart home automations, often combined with AI tooling and custom integrations.
